Our OFRW 2012-2013 CARING FOR AMERICA project is HONOR FLIGHT. This
organization sends World War II, Korean and Viet Nam War veterans, at
no cost, to visit War memorials in Washington, D.C. Any terminally ill
veteran of any war, is placed at the top of the list upon submitting a
Veteran's Application to his or her nearest hub.
We are
collecting money to send Ohio veterans to visit these memorials. Funds
raised by OFRW members and clubs will be used to fly veterans from the
Honor Flight hub nearest each contributing club. If you are sending a
check:
- please make it out to "Honor Flight
(Ohio)"
- mail it to Anna
Caldwell, 2196 Dunzweiler Drive, Zanesville, Ohio
43701
- Since Honor Flight
is a 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductable, if your
check is made payable to them
- We will
acknowledge receiving your donation and forward to Honor Flight..
As
patriotic Americans, we often think of the sacrifice that men and women
have made in defense of our liberty and freedom. These precious gifts
from God have been defended with the lives, injuries, and time of many
good people. Sending our financial support to the Ohio Honor Flight
hubs, and thereby enabling them to send more veterans to see their
Memorials, is a fitting way to express our thanks and appreciation.

$10,061.68
OFRW did it!
The $10,000 goal was

Final totals and details

From
the Caring for America Chairlady and Co-chairlady
THANK
YOU!!!!
Those words don't seem sufficient enough for what YOU ladies have
helped Donise and me accomplish over the past two years for the USO
Care Package Program. It has truly been an honor and privilege to
be a part of this with all of you. You have all been such a
blessing!
We raised over $10,000.00 for our men
and women from Ohio that serve us with such distinction in every branch
of the military! Everyday was made a little bit easier for
them
because of your support of the USO Care Package Program. Packages
were sent to our troops all over the world, from the dessert sands of
Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan and here at home as well.
Not only money was donated but products of all sorts were
donated. Items that were handmade from helmet liners to baby
blankets (for the baby sea bags). This is the America I know
and
love and YOU are that America.
I know I am a
little sad to see our Caring for America Project come to an end.
I need to thank some very important people that helped make this such a
success. First and foremost our President, Jean Turner. She
was always there for whatever we needed. Thank you Jean, for
all
your help.
My Co-Chair, Donise Pick was extremely
instrumental in
connecting us with the right people to facilitate our
project. Thank you Donise for all your help and
support!
Jeannie Soley
from the USO Armory in North Canton. Jeannie really was the
connection that was crucial to getting the money and products through
the correct channels.Thank you, Jeannie!
Last, but certainly
not least, a big THANK
YOU to all of you! You have made a
difference in the lives of some very special men, women and families
who
serve our nation. I will never forget your kindness and support
─ nor will they.
There is a tradition in the
USMC that I will leave you with: "Semper FIdelous." It means, 'Always
Faithful'. To that end let us always be faithful to our
God, Country, Family and each other!
God bless you and God bless our
great nation.
